You have 48 hours to arrive at El Paso airport and take a bus to Mc Gregor Range in New Mexico.

Your Battery has to prepare several missiles for launch. You will be graded on your performance.

It was our yearly final exam.

Our goal was to achieve a grade in the range of 95-100%

If not, they're where consequences.

Long hours of training when returning to the site.

Or maybe orders to another duty station doing a different job. Anything was possible for a low score Battery score on SNAP.

It also gave Nike Crewmen a chance to actually fire a missile. Several, in fact, at drone aircraft or points in Space.

I had the privilege of being on the LA-88 Snap crew in July of 1971.
